I try hard to be pretty. I color my hair to desperately cling to my blonde identity. I’m obsessed with moisturizer to keep my face looking young. I’m on fashion websites daily to stay current on trends. I get Botox (Dysport). I microbladed my eyebrows. I use extensions to make my hair longer. I got laser hair removal in all the places where hair doesn’t belong. I don’t leave the house without mascara. I get my nails done every 2 weeks. And so much more.
Y’all. I try. Like hard.
It sounds exhausting. And sometimes it is.
But here’s the thing: I enjoy all of it! I get excited to have a reason to get dolled up and leave the house. I love starting my day pursuing the new arrivals on Anthropologie’s website. Nail appointment days are exciting to me. Moisturizing my face a couple times a day makes me feel like I’m doing something to better myself. And when my doctor comes to my house every few months to shoot me up with chemicals to make my wrinkles go away, I feel special and beautiful (and fancy!). I enjoy feeling pretty. And I love the effort behind it.
What I love just as much is talking about all of it with anyone who will listen. Hence the beginning of this new blog.
Who am I to talk? Just a girl obsessed with all things pretty who loves to share it all! This blog will be anything I’m doing, thinking about doing, or maybe some things I’ve already done. Fashion. Beauty. Trends. Not trends. Special events. Marketing. Questions like what the hell is pre-fall and where did it come from or why are grown women suddenly wearing ruffly socks? You know, the important things to think about in life.
This won’t be perfect.
It’s my first blog, and I hope you like me.
My name is Erica. I’m 43. I grew up in Southern Indiana. I lived full time in Northwest Georgia for 20 years, but now I also spend a lot of time in Southwest Florida. I’ve been married for 3 years, and my husband and I are obsessed with our adorable, yet bratty flat-faced angry-looking calico Persian cat named Pippi. I’m a college professor who teaches marketing, management, business communication, and public speaking. My BS is in Communication. My MA is in Communication. And my MBA is in Fashion Management and Marketing.
I wake up excited about the next big event I’m attending (and/or planning), what I’m going to wear to it (always a dress), how I’m going to get other people excited about what I’m excited about, and my to-do lists that will help me make it all happen.
I’m a leo who thrives on social interactions. And attention. I know who I am.
My entire Instagram is mirror outfit pics. I like seeing y’all do those, so I hope you like seeing mine!
I love the art of gift giving (and the shopping that accompanies it).
And, in order to force myself to start this blog, I included it on my annual goals for my job.
So here we go… Let’s try hard to be pretty…
